Unarmed Combat Training Course

Unarmed Combatives

Unarmed Combatives Training

No Prerequisite

This 2-day class will explore confrontations where a firearm may not be an option. The class will include both classroom discussions as well as time spent on the defensive tactics floor. The students will discuss the dynamics of violent events, causes, de-escalation techniques, pre-attack indicators, and the sudden and violent nature of most conflicts. In the hands-on portion, students will learn dynamics of movement and ranges where fights can occur. We will work on responses from the 5 ranges (kicking, striking, trapping, grappling, and ground) in order to consider responses that might be employed in varying situations. This class will strive to provide some basic skill sets in each range that can then be advanced by the students. The intent of this class is to empower students to identify potentially violent encounters and avoid if possible, and if not, to react in a way that creates distance and opportunity to escape. This class will briefly touch on defensive tactics about edged and blunt weapons, gun takeaways, and gun retention. *NOTE – This is NOT INTENDED to be a class on fighting nor is it intended as an LEO restraint and control class. Students should be in good enough physical condition to participate.
